Hanging glass shelves in front of yoru kitchen window or bathroom window is an easy project that almost anyone can do. Paying someone to hang those vintage looking clear glass shelves can cost a pretty penny, but there are a few simple steps you can follow that will allow your to create custom glass window shelving on a budget.

To Make Custom Glass Window Shelves on a Budget You Will Need:

Metal or Wood shelf brackets

Screws

Power drill

Plexi glass or real glass

Epoxy glue (optional)

Now, these clear glass window shelves float in front of your window and are the [perfect place to display your vintage McCoy pottery collection or even have an herb garden in yoru kitchen.

The first step is to buy your metal or wood shelf brackets to support your glass window shelves. Look at yoru window. If you have one window, then you will need two brackets per glass window shelf. If you have two side by side windows in your kitchen, then you will need three brackets.

Basically, to support yoru glass window shelves, you will need one metal or wood shelf bracket for each vertical window frame you will be hanging your window shelf in front of.

Now, measure how wide your windows are. You need to measure from the outside left of the wood frame to the outside right wood frame. The outer edge.

If you want to hang these glass window shelves in front of a window that has not frame, then measure about two to three inches outside the outer left and right edge of the window.

Now, simply hang your metal; or wood shelf brackets. You want to pre drill a hole into the wood frame, and then screw the shelf bracket into place.

Place one on each vertical wood frame of the window. Use a level to make they are level across the space.

I recommend hanging one shelf about every six vertical inches on yoru window. You can of course space yoru glass window shelves as you choose.

Now, measure how wide apart your metal shelf brackets are. You should also measure how deep your brackets are.

Now, have strips of clear Plexiglas or real glass cut to these dimensions.

Have the rough edges of yoru strips of glass sanded so they do not cut your fingers in the future.

Now, simply place one strip of glass son each window shelf bracket.

If you are worried about the glass window shelf moving, then use clear epoxy to attach the clear glass shelves to the window brackets! You are finished!
